You Are Invited to the Ultimate Blog Party 2008

Ultimate Blog Party 2008

Please, join me in a party across the technological waves of the ole world wide web!

(Does ANYone still call it that? I mean, does saying "World Wide Web" out loud make me sound like the truest form of moron? An old fogie? A has-been? I was just trying to be creative, but now I'm thinking of...wait, let's start that invitation over. Edit, edit, edit...)

Welcome to my web-log.

No, no, no. No one calls it a "web-log" anymore you goofy goose (if they ever did, in anything other than a definitions page on wikipedia or something). In fact, that term there, "Goofy Goose..." isn't that something you might say to your two-year-old? Not to a bunch of newbies visiting your "web-log" as you called it?

Look, alright! The only PARTIES I've been to in five years are for the younglings--I have forgotten how to speak like a contemporary adult about things like partays. How sad that I'm excited about a virtual party, for crying out loud!

"Partay?!?!?" Oh, crud. Totally 80's Tom Cruise "Risky Business" or something... Well, it hasn't been that long since you've partied...(or has it!?!). Ugh! Writer-woman! Get your act together. This is your introduction to the world, for crying out loud. One thousand people or more joined last year's Ultimate Blog Party--that means you might get at least two hits today...and maybe five tomorrow, so shape up! People are reading!!

Hiya. I'm just a simpleton who's trying desperately to be a good mom, serve Christ in my community, make a part-time living as a researcher/writer, and read whenever I can carve out 5 minutes before bedtime (meaning, of course, reading to oneself...you know, quietly...?). I have a gazillion (stop exaggerating) food sensitivities, so I also often write about wheat-free or diet-restricted living, but most of my posts are about my children--the challenges of homeschooling a high-spirited, academically-gifted, almost-five-year-old boy (talk about an upcoming PARTY!), and also raising his copy-cat, gentle-spirited, future-comedian little sister. We try our best to be intentional about every day, but when I flub that up big time, I drop a post at my sister (dark sister) blog, Maddening Mom Fusings. That's actually like my confessional booth, only the door is wide open...(Is that a good idea??)

So, I hope you feel welcome to come in, explore, ask questions, pour yourself a drink My hands are full already, OK? Hate to be a bad hostess, but can you get that for yourself?, and plop down in a seat somewhere--(Only don't blame me if you gain weight sitting on your duff too long!). Leave a comment or two, be enriched, feel free to laugh & point at me...and y'all come back, now, ya hear?

Stop that! They'll think you're from Texas!

Oh, and I have a bad habit of talking to myself. Hence this blogging addiction.

The first step is admitting you have a problem...

Ooooh, ooh, ooh, Mr. Kotter, Mr. Kotter! (Why do you insist on dating yourself!?) Partygoer #1363 has an answer for the question, "Which door prizes would you like to take home from the partay?"

THE TOP TEN PRIZES I WOULD LOVE TO TAKE HOME FROM THIS PARTY (in order, I think):
61 — "The Very Cool Lunchbox"
8 — “50 Nights of Family Fun!”
103 — 7 Pink Brick Box Play Sets by LEGO
32 — A Living The Dream Mom T-Shirt
43 — Moby Dick
62 — Boca Beth Bilingual Beginner Set
80 — Scripture Doll
70 — Chocolate
79 — Skin Care Kit
152– African Shea Butter

As this superpower is currently dormant for me I'd have to pass this on, so it's not on my Top Ten, but...isn't this the most fun?
141 — I make milk. What’s your superpower? t-shirt from Crunchy Domestic Goddess

Whee Whoo! I have a party guest, who brought CHOCOLATE!!! Break it out--pass it around. No, don't. I changed my mind. Stick it all in my freezer--I'm in a hoarding mood. Now. What was I saying about being a good hostess!?!? Forget it. Go away. I have a meal to design of pure decadence. See ya!

Hi, Mod Mom! Thanks for partying with me! It was great to have you stop in at my parties. :)

Good question: "Do you ever sew the pockets on the left?"

Well, not yet...I've only been making right side pockets for the fork, knife, and spoon to sit in together. But, now that you mention it, a left side pocket is a great idea! You gave me another idea...a pocket for the fork and a pocket for the knife and spoon! I'll have to work on these.

Say, has anyone ever told you, YOU HAVE GREAT IDEAS! :)

Have a Happy Day!

re: "So, how are you tackling this party? Hmmm? IT'S HUGE!"

Well, socialite Lolly...I just don't sleep!! It's wildly exciting! Especially at 7:30 when dd wakes and I've maybe had...well, let's see, it's 4 AM now, so that would be...? I can't do math at this hour! What am I thinking? My brain might explode! Thanks for stopping in! Nice to meetcha! I'll go poke my head in at your pages now. (OH!! It's a progressive party!! What are you serving? ThE dessert?)

There are some nights when
sleep plays coy,
aloof and disdainful.
And all the wiles
that I employ to win
its service to my side
are useless as wounded pride,
and much more painful.

not sleeping explains the quick return comment just now . . so happens that here in Mx we don’t do our time change until the first weekend of April, so it’s only 12:17 am here . . .
And I knew when I read your “about” that you must have either rolled your eyes or snickered at my “sign while speaking” MSL and ASL mix . . it was crazy, but I’m not a film editor so it was just record and go . . anyway, I’m counting on your grace to overlook all that mess.
Also - I really did know why we have different languages - actually took a course in college that is fading somewhere in the back of my brain, but “I can’t say” is just easier and their eyes don’t glaze over with that explanation. Oh, and lets not forget the tower of Babel!
Wonder if there were any deaf working that day ? . . . .
just kidding

If by "amazing" you mean the most frenetically chaotic & disjointed, I'd have to agree! LOL! What's with these people who have three topics on their blogs? Not I, clearly!! Thanks for dropping by!
